To my surprise, our male bluebird was chasing a larger, dark bird. This went on until I finally realized Mr. Bluebird was in hot pursuit of a robin that kept coming back for more.
A peregrine falcon using the nest box on the 14th floor of One Capital Center in Boise laid her first egg today (April 7). The Peregrine Fund made the announcement after seeing the egg this morning.

State wildlife officials are asking people to take down their birdfeeders to avoid attracting bears.
"We are receiving reports of bears getting into bird feeders," said Col. David LeCours, of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. "People can help now by removing any food sources that may tempt the bears. That includes taking down bird feeders and not feeding birds until late October."
Like many homeowners, I enjoy watching birds at my bird feeder in the winter months. All season long, we have an abundance of feathered visitors – chickadees, nuthatches, finches; ground feeders like cardinals and juncos; and many sparrows and starlings.
Participants submitted more than 92,000 checklists to the GBBC this year--the third year in a row that checklists topped 90,000. New checklist records were set in 11 states and in 7 out of 13 Canadian provinces and territories, resulting in a new overall checklist record for Canada. Altogether, participants identified 596 species and 11.4 million bird observations.
