Watching Birds In The South

Bird Feeder

My very favorite coastal bird in South Carolina is the Brown Pelican. They are so majestic, whether they are flying in formation, hanging out on the docks waiting for scraps from the shrimp and fishing boats coming in or fishing on their own. The first time I ever saw a Brown Pelican dive for fish, it scared me to death!

Bird Feeder

For a bird watcher like me, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of spotting a rare or elusive bird—or watching any of our feathered friends in their natural habitats.  Whether you are a die-hard enthusiast or just take pleasure in seeing birds outside your window, you have a deep appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife.

Bird Feeder

This sounds like it was a great trip for the kids:

During the morning of the first of four days, the young people (most from Williamsport) were introduced to bird watching at Little Pine State Park. Their spotting of magnificent bald eagles was certainly the highlight.

The Birds Are At The Feeder

Bird Feeder

But I like my feeder, and enjoy watching the birds swoop in for a snack. Some three at a time. Or, like this bird, it'll fly in, scratch at the seed and just hang out for spell.

Take Time To Feed The Birds

Bird Feeder

There is something so relaxing and enjoyable watching them fly about, swooping down for seeds and catching the next wind powered thrill ride. It’s engaging noticing all the different species and colors and realizing the bird seed packaging was right after all; different seed varieties attract different types of birds.
