Check Out The Painted Buntings At The Bird Feeder

Bird Feeder

Click the link at the bottom to see some great photos of the Painted Bunting.

While Blue Jays, Northern Cardinals, and American Goldfinches will all show up at bird feeders here in the northeast and share their brilliant blue, red, and yellow visages, we have no bird at our feeders to compare to the Painted Bunting. While I have mentioned their technicolor dreamcoats before it never hurts to mention again that a bird made of blue, yellow, red and green is absurd and proof that nature is awesome.

Bird Feeders Are Ready For Winter

Bird Feeder

According to a report by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, more people feed birds than hunt or fish combined. In fact, 60 million people in the United States alone feed wild birds. The type of feed offered and the location of feeders will determine the species of birds that come to your back yard.

Bird Feeder

WILDLIFE week at a residential home will benefit its less mobile inhabitants.
They will be able to watch birds coming and going among the feeders and bird boxes their fellow residents have made.

Feed The Birds Using Home-Made Suet Cakes And Suet Feeders

Bird Feeder

Here are some good ideas for making your own suet cakes and feeders.

The chickadees and nuthatches have been hanging out at the bird feeder, enjoying the sunflower seeds. A blue jay swoops down, crashes into the feeder, then balances itself on the perch designed for much smaller birds, ducks its head and starts eating sunflower seeds.

Some Snowy Bird Feeders

Your Bird Feeder

Nice video clip of birds visiting her feeders. Note all the types of bird feeders that she uses.

A selection of clips showing some of the bird visitors to my feeders during the snowy weather.
