Documents Lists Bird-Safe Building Guidelines

Your Bird Feeder

"In Minnesota, bird-window collisions are a proven problem. Over 100 species of birds have been documented at just a small number of

buildings being monitored throughout the state. Birds are killed or injured as a result of clear and reflective glass. Artificial lighting also

confounds night-migrating species.

Fortunately, awareness and preventative actions are emerging. Internationally, Lights Out programs are aiding night migrants in a

growing number of cities. And by incorporating bird-safe building design strategies as part of an integrated sustainable design program,

we can help save countless resident and migratory birds."

Make A Bird Feeder Using Recycled Cardboard

Bird Feeder

A rewarding couple of hours and a great way to get rid of any large unwanted cardboard box. Must have items: Cardboard sheet about 3' x 3', 4 bicycle spokes (with nipples), a tiny washer (about 3/8"), about 2' of thin metal wire. Tools: Box cutter, straight edge, measuring tape / ruler, marker, pliers.
